Orienteering at Moors Valley
On the 1st afternoon of the course we cycled to Moors Valley in the New Forest to do orienteering. Everyone got a map and we got into two groups with our teachers. Our two groups started and we went from point to point but the other group tried to follow us so we turned into the forest and we never saw them again!
All points to 19 weren’t very difficult, but point number 20 was somewhere in the forest. After 10 minutes we found it, but not the other group, they didn’t find this point (ha ha ha). After this we found the other points too, and finished the course. Our time was about 40 min for 2.8 miles but we weren’t running. We also learned some new words, like ditch, footpath and trail.
Then we had to wait for half an hour for the other group, because after they didn’t see us, they didn’t have any sense of orientation and also they never found point number 20!
