Activities

New Forest Language School's programmes are designed to help students develop their confidence and use their English in different situations.  During our activities students are given different tasks to complete, such as quizzes and questionaires, to ensure that English really does not stop in the classroom.

Each week there is a selection of afternoon activities plus one full day excursion which may include:

  • Recreational activities:  orienteering in local Country Park, video filming, treasure hunts, cooking and dance workshops, fossil hunting on Dorset's "Jurassic Coast", shopping trips to surrounding towns, visiting local wildlife centres and adventure parks.
  • Sport activities: swimming, cycling, football, tennis, basketball, volleyball, rounders, cricket, "alternative" Olympic Games, ten pin bowling, kayaking and watersports at Hengistbury Head Outdoor Centre.
  • Cultural programme: visiting local markets, visiting local schools, the police and/or fire station, visiting museums, trips to the beach and historical sites such as Stonehenge.  Day trips to English towns and cities such as London, Bath, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Winchester, Bournemouth and Poole.
  • Evening activites: once a week an optional evening activity to include English skittles evening, quiz evening with host families or youth club evening.

All programmes are subject to change and New Forest Language School reserves the right to make amendments to any activities if deemed necessary.
